Have you ever wondered what coaching really is—and how it’s different from therapy? Many people mix the two up, but they serve very different purposes. Therapy often helps you heal and understand the past. Coaching helps you use that understanding to build the future you want.
Modern coaching might seem like a new idea, but its roots go back decades. One of the first people to discover its power was Dr. Milton H. Erickson—a pioneer who changed how we think about personal growth forever.
Until his death in 1980, almost no one outside a small circle had heard of him. Yet Erickson was the first to uncover the hidden power of what we now call life coaching—and the world of personal development has never been the same.
Before Erickson’s time, personal change was treated as a medical or psychological issue. If you wanted to improve any part of your life, a psychologist would start with a diagnosis. You became a “patient” in “treatment,” working toward “recovery.” If you were simply a well-adjusted person who wanted to grow, set goals, or get better results, there wasn’t really anyone to guide you—unless you accepted being labeled as unwell.
Erickson saw things differently. He believed that people already have powerful inner strengths—they just need help bringing them out. With the right kind of guidance, anyone can find simple, practical solutions that create real change. No long labels. No endless analysis. Just creative support to unlock what’s already inside you.
His core message was simple: everything you need is already within you.
Using this idea, Erickson developed a unique way of working with people that made him one of the most effective helpers of the 20th century. He became famous for guiding people toward quick, meaningful breakthroughs—no matter their challenge.
Today, coaching builds on that same idea. While therapy often focuses deeply on healing wounds from the past, coaching blends awareness with action. In coaching, we might look at where your patterns or obstacles come from—what beliefs or early experiences shaped them—but we don’t stay there. We use that insight to create transformation in the present.
In my approach, I combine Ericksonian methods, energy work, NLP, somatic practices, and emotion-focused tools to help you release old patterns and strengthen what’s already working. It’s not about “treating” you—it’s about helping you reconnect with your own wholeness. You’re not a patient. You’re a capable, creative person ready to expand.
Each session is practical, experiential, and focused on helping you think, feel, and live better—starting today, not someday.
If this approach resonates with you—if you’re ready to move beyond old patterns and reconnect with your own inner wisdom—I’d love to guide you through that process. Coaching isn’t about fixing what’s broken. It’s about remembering your wholeness and learning how to live from it every day.
